How the industrial branch is weighted

Six subjects are worth 10% each: Arabic, English, Islamic Education, Jordan History and the two Industrial Sciences papers. Two further slots are worth 20% each: Mathematics or Physics, and Drawing or Projects. In each of those slots the higher of the two marks counts, so enter both and let the calculator take the higher one.

A worked example

Every subject is out of 200. Take these marks: Arabic 180, English 160, Islamic Education 190, Jordan History 170, Industrial Sciences 150 on the first paper and 140 on the second, Mathematics 120 against Physics 160, and Drawing 190 against Projects 100.

  1. The six subjects total 990, divided by 20 gives 49.50.
  2. The first slot takes Physics at 160, being higher than Mathematics; the second takes Drawing at 190, being higher than Projects.
  3. The two slots total 350, divided by 10 gives 35.00.

The average is 84.50.

Passing under the old system

This site shows no pass or fail for the old system, because the rule for it is not in the sources the calculator was built from. The average is all it reports.
