Sources and method
The how-it-works page sets out the formula. This page sets out something else: where the figures in that formula came from, how they were checked, and what was left out of the arithmetic because it could not be established.
The document the numbers rest on
The primary source is the secondary-certificate examination instructions No. 12 of 2024 — تعليمات امتحان شهادة الدراسة الثانوية العامة رقم (12) لسنة 2024 — issued by the Ministry of Education under Article 29 of Education Law No. 3 of 1994. The copy relied on here is the Official Gazette printing, whose running heads carry gazette pages 6869 to 6911. Article 30 of these instructions repeals the 2017 instructions they replaced.
From it come Table 1, the grade-11 marks; Table 2, the grade-12 subjects and the examined-subject list for each field; and Table 3, the vocational track.
A second document sits beside it: the secondary-stage curriculum plan published on the ministry's site in November 2024. It was produced by a different department some weeks before the instructions, and it agrees with them on every field name, every subject and every mark. Two documents prepared independently agreeing is stronger than either on its own.

What those documents establish directly
- The grade-11 marks: Arabic out of 100, English out of 100, Islamic Education out of 60 and Jordan History out of 40, totalling 300.
- Grade 12: four examined subjects, each out of 175, totalling 700.
- That year one carries 30 of the average and year two 70. This falls out of the mark totals rather than being applied on top of them — 300 scales to 30, and 700 scales to 70.
- The exemption from Islamic Education for a non-Muslim student.
- The six fields, and the fixed and optional subjects within each.
The cohort this plan applies to
The plan applies to grade 11 from academic year 2024/2025 onward, and to grade 12 from 2025/2026 onward. That comes from Article 13 of the instructions, together with Article 14, which points at Table 2 by name. No end year is set, so this is not a single cohort's plan: it stands until it is amended.
How this was checked
Citing a document is worth nothing unless the document exists and says what it is credited with saying. So:
- Both ministry files were re-downloaded from their URLs and the sha256 of each compared against the copy this site's rule data was derived from. Last checked 11 September 2026.
- The figures were cross-checked against two independent public calculators, which agree with the instructions on every constant they share.
- Automated text extraction from these files is lossy and mangles some Arabic letterforms, so the tables were read against images of the pages themselves rather than trusted from extracted text.
The reason for that strictness is experience: an earlier attempt at this research produced a complete, confident-sounding table whose two source links did not resolve and whose figures were wrong. A confident citation is not a checked one.
Truncation is our own policy
The displayed average is truncated to two decimal places and never rounded up: 29.125 shows as 29.12, not 29.13. Pass and fail are decided on the exact value before truncation, so that presentation can never flip a result. This is our choice rather than anything the instructions require, and the point of it is that you are never shown an average higher than the one you earned.
What is not settled
Anything that cannot be traced to a published source stays out of the arithmetic and is named here instead of guessed at:
- The resit examination (التكميلي). Which marks it can replace, and how a resit mark re-enters the average, are not established. It is left out of the calculator entirely.
- The vocational and technical track. The documents establish that it exists under the current system and totals 1000, but the internal composition of its 700 marks has not been read, so this calculator does not model it.
- The substitute for specialised Islamic Education in the Law and Sharia Sciences field. A footnote permits the substitution but does not name the replacement subject.
- The semester split. Grade-12 subjects are labelled as first semester, and whether the 175 is one semester's mark or the year's has not been established.
- The school-level pass requirement. Article 14 conditions sitting the examination on passing the subjects at school. This calculator computes the examination and does not check that condition.
When this page changes
The instructions stand until they are amended. If they are, the rule data is corrected first and the pages follow it — no figure is published before it can be traced to its source. If you find a number here that disagrees with the published instructions, send it with its source through the contact page; a correction with a source behind it gets acted on.
