The Engineering field
These fields apply to: Grade 12 from academic year 2025/2026 onward. The list follows the instructions recorded in the site rules.
Engineering fixes Mathematics and Physics, then lets you choose one science subject and one further examinable subject.
What this field is like
Engineering fixes Mathematics and Physics, then leaves you two decisions: one subject from the science group, and one further examinable subject. That is more choice than Health offers and less than Science & Technology.
Mathematics and Physics together set the rhythm of the year. Both are problem-solving subjects rather than memorising ones, and Physics leans on Mathematics directly enough that falling behind in one surfaces in the other within weeks. Add a third demanding science and the whole year becomes calculation; choose otherwise and you balance two different kinds of work.
Grade-12 subjects
Fixed subjects
| Subject | Max |
|---|---|
| Mathematics | 175 |
| Physics | 175 |
Optional science subjects — Choose one subject

| Chemistry | 175 |
| Earth & Environmental Science | 175 |
Further examinable subject
Your fourth subject is chosen from the examinable subjects, and that list is the same whichever field you are in. It is set out in full, split into sciences and humanities, on the fields page. See the full list of examinable subjects
Do not repeat a subject: every choice must differ from the fixed subjects and the other choices.
Choosing within this field
Engineering asks two things of you: one subject from the science group, and one further examinable subject. The first is the one that genuinely changes the shape of your year.
Add another subject that also runs on solving and calculation and the whole year takes on a single character, which suits a student who is comfortable there and grinds down one who is not. Choose something built on understanding and description instead and you balance two modes of work. Neither is better in itself; which is better for you depends on what a full year of study has already taught you about yourself.
The faculties and programmes you can apply to
This list applies to: University admission for the academic year 2026/2027.
- Faculties of Engineering
- Aeronautical Engineering
- Physics programmes
- Mathematics programmes
- Geology and Earth Sciences
Open to every student on the academic track, whatever your field: Programmes in the faculties of Arts, Design, Culinary Arts and Sports Education, except Sports Rehabilitation at the Hashemite University.
These are faculties and programmes rather than a list of individual majors, and they come from an admission policy that is reissued every year, so they can change. This page states no admission averages and no minimum marks; those come from the universities and the admission authority. The authoritative text is the policy itself: Jordanian universities admission policy (PDF)
Qualifying for this field
Qualifying for any field is passing year one and nothing else: every grade 11 subject must reach 40% of its maximum. No field has a minimum mark of its own.
How your average is calculated in this field
Year two has four subjects, each out of 175: 700 marks become 70 points of your average, added to 30 points from year one. The field fixes the subjects, not the arithmetic.

The other fields
Each field has its own subjects and faculties. These are the rest of the six:
This page describes the subjects in this field and the faculties it lets you apply to. It does not cover competitive admission averages, which come from the universities and the admission authority. The calculator is unofficial and anticipated, and does not model the التكميلي resit.
