The Languages & Social Sciences field
These fields apply to: Grade 12 from academic year 2025/2026 onward. The list follows the instructions recorded in the site rules.
This field fixes specialised Arabic and advanced English, then lets you choose one humanities and social sciences subject and one further examinable subject.
What this field is like
This field fixes two languages — specialised Arabic and advanced English — and then asks you to choose one subject from the humanities and social sciences group, and one further examinable subject.
More than any other field, it is built on reading and sustained writing. Its two fixed subjects are assessed by what you compose rather than what you solve, which suits a student who thinks in argument and analysis and wears down a student who would rather have a question with one right answer. Your choice from the humanities group changes the character of the year more than it appears to: history, geography, sociology and psychology, and philosophy are genuinely different disciplines, however neatly one heading gathers them.

Further examinable subject
Your fourth subject is chosen from the examinable subjects, and that list is the same whichever field you are in. It is set out in full, split into sciences and humanities, on the fields page. See the full list of examinable subjects
Do not repeat a subject: every choice must differ from the fixed subjects and the other choices.
Choosing within this field
Here you choose one subject from the humanities and social sciences group, then one further examinable subject. That group is wider than its name suggests, and its subjects are not of one kind.
Some run on narrative and sequence; some on analysing a phenomenon and accounting for it; some on building an argument and defending it. What suits you in one may exhaust you in another, even though a single heading gathers them both. Look at how each is examined and what kind of answer it asks for before choosing by name.

Open to every student on the academic track, whatever your field: Programmes in the faculties of Arts, Design, Culinary Arts and Sports Education, except Sports Rehabilitation at the Hashemite University.
These are faculties and programmes rather than a list of individual majors, and they come from an admission policy that is reissued every year, so they can change. This page states no admission averages and no minimum marks; those come from the universities and the admission authority. The authoritative text is the policy itself: Jordanian universities admission policy (PDF)
Qualifying for this field
Qualifying for any field is passing year one and nothing else: every grade 11 subject must reach 40% of its maximum. No field has a minimum mark of its own.
How your average is calculated in this field
Year two has four subjects, each out of 175: 700 marks become 70 points of your average, added to 30 points from year one. The field fixes the subjects, not the arithmetic.

The other fields
Each field has its own subjects and faculties. These are the rest of the six:
This page describes the subjects in this field and the faculties it lets you apply to. It does not cover competitive admission averages, which come from the universities and the admission authority. The calculator is unofficial and anticipated, and does not model the التكميلي resit.
